Google: The global tech giant Google has achieved another significant milestone in the world of technology. It has officially introduced “Gemini 3.5 Live Translate,” a new audio model designed for real-time speech-to-speech translation. This innovative system was developed based on two decades of research and effort in the field of machine learning. It enables conversations between two people speaking different languages to flow naturally and seamlessly, without any interruptions.
Live translation that preserves the feel of the original voice
Typically, older translation systems respond with a robotic-sounding voice. However, with the new Gemini 3.5 Live Translate feature, the tone, pacing, and pitch of our speech remain unchanged during translation into the target language. This means that whatever emotion we convey while speaking…The other person hears that same sentiment. The company revealed that this translation system currently processes more than a trillion words per month across all Google products combined.
When will Gemini 3.5 Live Translate become available?
Google plans to roll out this new Gemini 3.5 Live Translate feature to users in phases. Currently, it is available to developers as a public preview via the Gemini Live API and Google AI Studio. As for Google Meet users, a private preview is set to begin this June for select Workspace Enterprise customers.It is set to be rolled out to everyone on a large scale by the end of this year. Subsequently, it will become available to global customers via the Google Translate app on Android and iOS platforms. Additionally, a ‘Listening Mode’ offering an earpiece-based translation experience will be available for Android users.
